Get to know the Island Angels club members.

Ordered by ‘Road Names’ which are nicknames gifted by the rest of the club members.

Born and bred in Germany in the mid 60’s, I spent a couple of years in UK too. I discovered my love for anything with wheels at a fairly young age (3 or so) :). legally on the road with bikes for nearly 30 years. Got my bike licence in 1994. My other big love are horses. I switched to bikes in the 90’s since they don’t require as much food and grooming in the in winter as horses do. Still love horses very much though and a little cat crazy too.

After riding scooters from the age of 12, I got my first kind of “proper” bike in around 1994 in the UK. A Yamaha SR 125, only for a few weeks to get used to driving on the left in UK, as I only had moved there a few months before.

Then went on to a Kawasaki GPZ 400, Babyblade CBR 400 RR, another baby-Kawasaki.ZXR 400 this time. These were all japanese grey imports, cheap and cheerful little bikes. After having ridden these babies for a few months I was ready to go for a bigger bike. Time for my first CBR 600. Then a Ducati 600 SS and back to another CBR 600. This bike was my best buddy. Always longed for a big blade, but didn’t want to get rid of my 600. So I got to ride hubby’s back in Germany for a few months before we moved to Cyprus in 2010. Riding a bike with fairing here in the summer heat wasn’t for me (or my legs). We both sold our bikes prior moving to Cyprus. Here I decided to go for a hornet – nearly same engine, same kind of forgiving as the CBR, but naked. (bike that is). Pimped it up a little and now pretty happy with it.

As for the Angels – I’m totally proud to be a member of the Island Angels since the early days of the club. Even though at first I didn’t really want to join any clubs at all, but Julie convinced me and now I’m happy she did 🙂

Lovely bunch of ladies with big hearts and great minds alike.

My grandmother bought me my first motorbike when I was little, and it’s been a lifelong passion ever since. I call it my happiness top-up and it truly is; I never feel so alive as I do when in the saddle and I always have a massive grin on my face under my helmet.

Bought my current bike, a Honda Fireblade (the love of my life) because it matched my nail varnish.

I met Charlie through a mutual friend, and then followed her, picking up bits of her Enfield as they fell off until she went out and bought a proper bike.

Charlie and I ride the length and breadth of the island regularly. We have comms and chatter constantly when out riding, you don’t want to hear the rubbish we talk about, makes me giggle whenever I think about it.
Was once given a ‘me or the bike’ ultimatum by my fiancé – I am happy single 😉

I started riding motorcycles… last year!!

At 35, 2 kids, and a divorce later… it’s my time! I signed up for the Island Angels Try Rides in March 2022, as a way to start my journey, as being surrounded by male bikers I wanted to be able to join in the fun.

I am currently riding a Sym NHT 125, my first ever bike, after passing my test in September 2022, and hoping to move up to my big girls’ bike in the next few months, after my next test!

I joined the Island Angels whilst I was still doing lessons and they have helped me along my journey and given me more confidence and advice along the way.
